It happened three decades ago when her first clinic was one of the few health centers specializing in TCM in New York City. Seven days a week, her clinic was packed with patients from all over the city. Seven days a week, she was the last one to have lunch. And seven days a week, patients were sitting in the waiting room or standing in the hallway, waiting to see her.

“I did not see the patient, but I could feel her pain. So, I wanted to help her,” recalled Dr. Zhang. “If I can standardize herbal remedies, I can reach out to those in need quickly and help them relieve pain.”
