每年7月4日，美国独立日当天，布鲁克林科尼岛都会迎来一场别开生面的“美食竞技”盛事——内森著名热狗大赛（Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest）。这项历史悠久、气氛火爆的比赛自1916年起已举办超过百年，吸引数万名观众现场围观，并在ESPN全美直播。
